The Hills Are Alive For James May As He Finally Gets To Re-Enact The Sound of Music Epic Opening

The sound of music or the soundless Toyota Mirai? Toyota says hydrogen is the most abundant element in the world. That is true, but why is the most abundant element in the universe not the most abundantly used fuel in the world? That is the real question Toyota does not want to answer. Hydrogen is tricky to store, it liquefies at -252.87°C, and is highly volatile. The Sun, which lights up and powers the solar system, is 91-percent made up of hydrogen. We can see and feel the power of hydrogen, although not that often in the UK.

Hydrogen fuel is equally as expensive to produce as it is to extract oil. But here is the biggest issue. We are told Japan is a country that has embraced a future hydrogen road-map. However, in Japan, there are over 130 hydrogen filling stations compared to over 29 thousand gasoline stations. But here is the biggest elephant in the room. Japan has over 18 thousand EV Charging stations.

Statistically speaking Japan’s hydrogen roadmap is a failiure. And as much we admire the engineering behind the Toyota Mirai, the hydrogen-powered Mirai is doomed to become a statistical failure. But that hasn’t stopped James ‘The Sound of Music’ May to spend £65K on a brand new Mirai that even Japanese consumers will not statistically embrace.
