Brabus Has Done It Again With The AMG G63 900 Rocket Edition
Auto News

When the combustion engine era is over what will Brabus do with their spare time when the V8 is put into a museum or thrown on the scrap heap? When such a scenario inevitably happens it is for Brabus to decide. At the present moment, they are spending their time creating the latest in a series of Frankensteinian monsters. This time they took an innocent AMG G63, which is powered by a humble 577bhp, and 850Nm [627 lb-ft] of torque twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, modified it to 4.5-litres, and dressed the exterior with a face that only Frankenstein could like.

And they gave this SUV monster a name. The 900 Rocket Edition. So-called because it isn’t powered by a SpaceX Raptor engine, rather an uprated G63 V8 which now delivers 900PS [887bhp] and 1,250Nm of torque. Despite weighing over 2,560kg, 900 Rocket Edition can accelerate from 0-62mph in a mere 3.7 seconds and is electronically limited to a top speed of 155mph.

To extract this performance Brabus installed larger positions, a billet crankshaft that is machined from solid steel rather than molten-cast, and Brabus engineered turbochargers. The carbon fibre grill includes an integrated air ram which also illuminates with an LED light surround.

Brabus decided to include high-pressure fuel pumps, usually found in race cars. And no re-engineered Brabus is complete without an all-new high-performance, stainless steel exhaust pipe with active valve flaps.

And to top it off the Barbus 900 Rocket Edition rides on 24-inch forged alloy wheels. The ride is height adjustable and also features adjustable dampers. On the inside, the 900 Rocket Edition gets a retrim with carbon-fiber elements, Alcantara, and leather. This particular example also features signature Brabus red accents and LED ambient lighting.
