You Can Now Lease A Citroen For As Little As $29 Per Month
Auto News

We must wait for the pandemic to end to get a Citroen, but if you can not wait that long why not opt for the Ami. The Citroen Ami is a tiny two-seater compact electric car. Power is supplied by an equally tiny 6kW electric motor and a 5.5kWh battery pack which is flat-mounted under the floor. It only does 44 miles on a single charge and the maximum top speed is 28mph. So what is the point of such a car? The Ami is designed for narrow city streets. But if you ever drive around in a city, especially London you will not see many compact city cars.

And the Citroen Ami is outrageously compact for a modern-day compact vehicle. It is so small that it doesn’t even require a license and can be driven by kids as young as 14. Citroen recently added a cargo version by removing and partitioning the passenger seat which opens up 400-litres of storage. A built-in modular shelf doubles as a foldable desk. The standard two seat Ami will retail for $6,600 or $22 per month on a lease. The Citroen Ami Cargo will retail for $7,821 if purchased outright or $29 per month on a long-term lease deal.

Hold on… that’s more expensive than a two-seater Ami? Anyway, the Citroen Ami is available to order now, first deliveries are scheduled to reach customers in June. Launch priority will target France, to begin with, followed by Italy, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Portugal a few weeks later.

So who is the Citroen Ami aimed for? Urban couriers, local deliveries, fast food takeaways, city dwellers, teenage jewelry raiders, and drug dealers who supply celebrity clients and London’s financial district. However we have identified one issue, it takes 3 hours to recharge the Ami from a mains socket.

For any business time is money, to that end does the Citroen Ami serve the needs of, say, a local delivery business? That is the Ami question.
