Someone Rendered This Awesome Looking Alfa Romeo Insignia
Auto News

Design visualiser Andra Veres has been busy priming his Photoshop skills of late. And this is one of his latest renders that he uploaded onto his Instagram account. Behold, the Alfa Romeo Insignia. The front end consists of a classic and unmistakable Alfa Romeo Trefoil grille design. Trefoil roughly translates into three-leaf clover. The Italian language, indeed any Italian word, sounds more elegant then the abrasive sounding Anglo Saxon English. Even the Italian word for donkey sounds much better, Asina could be used to name a newborn child.

Nevertheless, I do digress. The Alfa Romeo Insignia render by Andra Veres is transformed into an elegant, dare I say, desirable mode of transport, all at the touch of a Wacom tablet. The taillights also borrow Alfa Romeo styling cues from the Giulia. Italian design is full of flair and this render-concept elevates the usual staid and serious looking Insigina.

But the future of Alfa Romeo is uncertain, it is now part of the recently formed PSA/Fiat union. The company survives on two model offerings, however a refresh of the Guila and Stelvio models scheduled for 2021 may well be postponed. Alfa’s renewed effort in the USA yielded 18,000 sales in 2019, 2020 sales data remains a mystery.

We do know Alfa’s European sales amounted to 50,830 units sold in 2020. As a comparison Kia sold over 500,000 new vehicles in Europe during 2020, despite the global pandemic. Alfa’s continued existence is based on historical idealism and romanticism manufactured by an adoring motoring press.

The harsh reality is, the dream that was once Alfa Romeo died decades ago.
