Who was Fred Astaire? An American actor, dancer, singer and dance choreographer from the silent and silver screen era of old Hollywood. Before Hollywood made way for the Marvel universe. Anyway, Fred was a white dude who could actually dance pretty well. And now Nissan wants to take a bit of the Fred Astaire white dude can dance, dance magic, and apply it to the next generation Z sports coupe.
The Nissan GTR is the best car Nissan produces, and the Z is the second best. Some say it is the best because of it’s affordability, but if you have ever driven a Nissan Z it feels almost sentient. Nissan’s intent is to make the next generation Z provide a balance between technology, power and style with a easy to use focus.
Nissan’s Chief Product Specialist Hiroshi Tamura is in charge of delivering the overall package. His previous credits include the GT-R and 370Z.
Speaking to Nissan Australia Hiroshi revealed:
“Z-ness, to me, is the spirit of Nissan. It’s where the driver meets machine, resulting in an authentic ‘oneness’ or ‘bond’ between the driver and car.”
“I want customers to smile and enjoy the car. The next Z will be a car that will keep Nissan’s sports car spirit alive.”
Hiroshi spoke as he posed alongside a Z prototype, the all new Z is slated for a 2021 release with pricing likely to start from around $40,000. Power is expected to be supplied by a twin-turbo 300bp V6.
