This All-Electric EV Hummer Edition 1 Will Cost $112,595
Auto News

Back from the dead Hummer is reinventing itself as a maker of state-of-the-art all-electric off-road vehicles. Hummer was founded in 1992 to make civilian variants of the military spec Humvee. However, the company was gone with the wind by 2008. General Motors retained the brand in a zombified state of existence until they sensed the opportunity of reviving the company on the back of the electric vehicle bandwagon. The Hummer EV Edition 1 will be a limited edition run with an asking price of $112,595 and is scheduled to go on sale in Q4 2021. It will be followed by cheaper Sub $80,000 models from mid-2022 onwards.

The Hummer Edition 1 is powered by three electric motors and has a range of 350 miles, says General Motors. Performance details are a little thin on the ground. Word on the street is that the Hummer EV Edition 1 will have up to 1,000bhp. The Hummer EV will use GM’s proprietary Ultium Battery technology which can charge 100 miles in 10 minutes, according to GM.

The Hummer Edition 1 will be fully loaded and expensively trimmed for sure. This particular vehicle even has underbody armor and a removable infinity roof. And it does look every bit the Hummer we once knew. But the Hummer H1 had that classic industrial look, a look that sits well in any decade.

The Hummer EV will have independent suspension all-round and adaptive suspension that can lower or raise the ride height. Those 18-inch alloys are hugging 35-inch Goodyear WT MT Tyres. However, the type of person who buys this vehicle will use it for nothing more than a drive down Sunset Boulevard to get a Costa Coffee.

Conversely, the Hummer EV will be loaded with off-road capability.
