2022 Subaru BRZ Update Spotted Testing in The Wild
Auto News

The interweb went into temporary overdrive as the Subaru BRZ was spotted testing in full camo-wrap. It isn’t clear if the 2022 Subaru BRZ is evolutionary in the design and engineering or just a regular update made to look like a significant overhaul/new generation. From what we can see in this particular spy shot, the BRZ seems to carry over much of the design language as the current generation. The so-called second-generation BRZ will be a continuation of the joint sportscar development co-operation with Toyota.

According to various interweb speculators, the BRZ will continue to use an updated version of its naturally aspirated flat-4 Boxer engine which produces 217 hp. That is 12HP increase over the current generation BRZ. The BRZ had only one problem, it needed more power. If these figures are correct then it is highly unlikely Subaru will opt for a turbocharged solution.

However, the Subaru BRZ has always prioritized handling over out-right power. When the BRZ does make it to retail buyers in the UK will be left floundering to buy one. That’s because they will have to import one from America. Toyota will sell its BRZ based GT86 in the UK which is speculated to use a BMW sourced 2.0-litre 4-cylinder 256bhp engine.
