This is The 508 PSE, The Most Powerful Peugeot Plug-in Hybrid in The Universe
Auto News

This is the most powerful Peugeot of all time, the 508 PSE (Peugeot Sport Engineered). The new high performance marks the beginning of the company’s new high-performance division. Peugeot has drawn on their knowledge gained from various motor-racing categories from DAKAR to the World Endurance Championship. The most powerful Peugeot is indeed powered by a small capacity engine combined with hybrid technology. The 508 PSE will be available in saloon and estate variants.

Sitting under the front bonnet of the 508 PSE is a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors that sit on the front axle. The combined power generates 355bhp (265kW/360PS) and 520Nm of torque (384 lb-ft). Along with an 8-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel-drive the 508 PSE hits 0-62mph in a respectable 5.2 seconds and reaches a limited top speed of 155mph.

Peugeot claims the 508 PSE has a range of 139mpg, let’s be kind and say it’s a ‘hybrid’ figure. Expect a real-world, non-marketized, mpg figure of around 40-50mpg. That’s the average range for these types of hybrid powertrains whether it’s Peugeot, Honda, or BMW. The CO2 emissions are 46 g/km and the pure-electric range is around 15 miles.

Five driving modes are available, Electric for 100% electric driving limited to an 86mph top speed, Comfort, Hybrid, Sport, and AWD. All rather self-explanatory. The 508 PSE is fitted with a variable three-mode shock absorber suspension and the front and rear track has been widened for added stability and handling. And those 20-inch alloy wheel are clothed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber.

The interior is trimmed in a mix of Alcantara and leather and part from that you get flagship spec equipment levels with the latest in smartphone connectivity in addition to the latest in active and passive safety technology. The cost?… we don’t know how much exactly, Peugeot has not yet revealed the price.
