Porsche 911 Turbo Kills The Porsche Tycan During Carwow Performance Test
Video

Carwow’s Mat Watson duels it out with the drag race to end all drag races in in the future vs the past and present future. This particular battle sees the Porsche Taycan Turbo S vs the Porsche 911 Turbo S. The Taycan’s Turbo S prefix is used purely for marketing purposes, whereas the 911 Turbo S actually uses a real turbo. Although the S is used for… marketing purposes.

The Taycan S is a 761 bhp, 1,051Nm , 2.5 tonne pure electric sports car. The Porsche 911 Turbo S needs no introduction. The 3.8-litre flat-six delivers 650bhp and 800Nm of torque. Based on power alone, one would expect the Taycan to have this battle for the future wrapped up.

Wrong, this is as much about the power-to-weight ratio as much as the overall fastest time. And the 911 Turbo S, weighing just under a tonne lighter, proves to be the consistent winner. Except for rolling starts where it loses out to the Taycan. But only just.
