Formula 1 Lockdown, Esports Fill The Void of Real Racing
Covid-19 has turned the Formula 1 calendar upside-down-inside-out. Undeterred the F1 circus has gone from hosting live events to Esports, live digital racing. Modern-day technology allows viewers to watch gamers compete against another online, just as long as you have a strong wifi signal. Esports is a $148 billion industry, a net worth bigger than F1 which is worth around $8-10 billion USD.
F1Esports has a big audience, around 5.5million and growing, more so as a result of the coronavirus lockdown. However, whereas the Esports industry has a bigger combined net worth, F1 has a significantly bigger audience of nearly 2 billion. Just sayin.
