Video
If you haven’t seen this already then let us give you a quick recap. Former F1 driver Sebastian Bourdais sets the fastest lap time during qualifying ahead of the Indy500. One Corner later Bourdais’s schedule has been re-set to recovery as he hits the wall having lost the back of his car just as he makes the apex at 231mph. The loss of control is instant the impact is massive, the damage to the car is done and Bourdais has suffered multiple fractures. Modern safety standards mean that Bourdais survived because Indcars are designed to with very high levels of impact tolerances.
