Rimac-vs-La-Ferrari
Rimac Concept One Destroys The Ferrari La Ferrari
Video
The Rimac Concept one is a £1m electric supercar/hypercar. Power comes courtesy of 4 electric motors with each one separately driving each wheel. The cmbined power of these motors develop 1073bhp and a colossal 1,500Nm of torque. Top speed is rated at 221mph and the pure electric drive range is a claimed 200 miles. Electric cars have instant acceleration compared to the internal combustion engine powered car. In Layman’s terms you have fewer mechanical parts getting in the way of the transfer of power and drive to the wheels. The electric powered car is not new, they were invented around the same time as vehicles powered by the internal combustion engine. The first electric motor was actually created by Andrew Gordon, a Scottish monk, around 1740. By 1884 Thomas Parker, a British electrical engineer, inventor and industrialist developed the first electric powered car. However in the early part of the 20th Century electricity was not readily available to the masses. And while gas powered cars polluted like hell they have always been way, way more efficient. In the early 21st Century electric cars are coming to the fore as governments force in clean air laws. So after over 120 years of stop/start development electric cars are finally gaining traction. They aren’t perfect and are highly inconvenient in our fast paced modern world. Highly inconvenient because battery technology hasn’t really evolved. If a single cell battery can be developed to be as efficient as the same quantity of petrol/diesel then the death of the internal combustion engine will surely be near. For now what we have are these Frankenstein electric vehicles with ethereal quantities of power that can destroy a Ferrari La Ferrari with ease. Ironically the La Ferrari probably has about the same range as the Rimac but the key difference is that you can refuel a La Ferrari in around 5 minutes. It takes many hours to re-charge a Rimac.  Rimac-vs-La-Ferrari
