After the Euphoria of testing the McLaren 570S Coupe, we are boasting, it’s back to reality and none more so than with the Skoda Kodiaq. In essence the Kodiaq is just another SUV, motor manufactures are trending towards building more SUV’s because of consumer demand and Skoda wants to eat a piece of the pie. Interestingly Skoda will offer their mid-sized entry level SUV challenger at arguably a stupidly affordable price of just £21k. This entry level S model will feature the 4-cylinder, 1.4-litre TSi 125bhp petrol engine. Standard equipment will be high  LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather multifunction steering wheel and manual air-conditioning. S models also feature Front Assist, KESSY Go, Swing touchscreen infotainment system, DAB digital radio and SmartLink for smartphone connectivity. Available to order from November 2016, with first UK deliveries expected April 2017, the Kodiaq will be offered in four trim levels, five engine options, two and four-wheel drive, and a choice of manual or DSG gearboxes. The range-topping 2.0 TSI petrol unit delivers 180PS and drives through a seven-speed DSG 4×4 transmission To us the Kodiaq ryhmes with Zodiac and looks like a super-sized Superb from the side, of course all car manufactures these days, including Skoda, follow similar design cues and patterns from model range to model range. Its about keeping it in the family. While the Kodiaq is just 40 mm longer than the Octavia, Skdoa claim that it offers a larger-than-average interior for the SUV segment. The geeks might like to know that the interior length is 1,793 mm, elbow room is 1,527 mm in the front and 1,510 mm in the rear. Head room is 1,020 mm in the front and 1,014 mm in the rear. The Kodiaq will offer the latest in car connectivity and online accessibility for infotainment service and will include a number driver assists such as Front Assist – including City Emergency Brake (standard on all models), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Assist, Blind Spot Detect and Rear Traffic Alert. You even get trailer assist functionality… just sayin bro… Engines will feature VW stock diesel and petrol engines I think you may well be familiar with the range by now.
