Jaguar Adds XF AWD To Beat The Winter Blues
Auto News
Jaguar are not at the 2016 Detroit Auto show which is not a good way to treat potential customers in what is one of the worlds biggest car markets. Jaguar have other things on their minds like driving safely during the bleak winter months. You can now do so with the all-wheel-drive XF. The AWD XF borrows the same system used in the F-Type AWD, power is biased towards the rear wheels. However the onboard computer will split the power evenly or too which ever wheel require the most or least power to provide optimum levels of grip in less than optimum driving conditions. Jaguar refer to this balance of ever shifting power as torque on-demand. The XF AWD will be available in its entry level 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, 163bhp state with an eight speed automatic transmission to boot. Jaguar-XF-AWD-Wheels Performance stats are slightly slower, 0.2s slower to 0-62mph, due to a 105kg increase the AWD system adds. All XF models now get Jaguar’s Configurable Dynamics system which allows drivers to program their desired suspension, steering, throttle and transmission settings. Optional extras include Adaptive Surface Response which is a three mode setting that allows you, the potential buyer, to adapt the AWD XF for Snow, Ice and Rain conditions. The AWD XF will come with a familiar range of engines top of the pile is the 380bhp, 3.0-litre Supercharged V6 petrol or you can just go for the standard 340bhp V6 petrol. The tried and trusted 300bhp V6 turbo diesel lives on and you also get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol which hands out 240bhp. The least powerful and entry level engine is the 163bhp, 20-litre diesel which also has a more powerful 180bhp derivative should you so desire it. Jaguar-XF-AWD-Rear The XF AWD range will consist of the XF Pure, Prestige, Portfolio, XF R-Sport and XF S, prices will start at £36k and range up to, we don’t know. Jaguar failed to communicate this in their press release and these people work in the communications industry. What Jaguar do mention is that all Ingenium diesel engines will only need to be serviced every 21,000 miles or every 24 months. We also know UK deliveries will commence in Spring 2016.  Jaguar-XF-AWD-Front
