Mini John Cooper Works Is Typically Fast… For A Mini JCW
The latest generation John Cooper Works Mini is perhaps the most potent yet made, the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is tuned to deliver 228bhp and 320Nm of torque in a car the size of a tent.
Lets get the price out of the way, its £22k for UK buyers and it goes on sale around April 2015 so we suggest you start saving the pennies or raiding the charity collection boxes where ever you can get hold of them.
So what do you get for your hard earned money, we know about the power what about a 0-62mph time of 6.3 seconds with a six speed manual gearbox (6.1 with the 6-speed auto).
Mini have loaded the JCW with a sports suspension, Brembo brakes with 4-pistion front calipers and an aerodynamic package, all this derived from their motorsport participation. And to rubber stamp that sporting nature you get bucket seats thrown in for that motorsport ambiance.
The exterior benefits from a more butch looking bodywork with 17-inch alloys as standard, JWC 18-inch alloys are optional. Those air intakes, look great but they are purely for show and form part of the so called aerodynamic package mentioned earlier. Lets just say the aero package is really designed for the sake of design although Mini say otherwise.
Drivers are aided by a load of software designed to cover bad skills behind the wheel like a plaster covers a wound. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) and Performance Control should make meat heads look like muscle heads.
Dynamic Damper control is an optional extra, Mini really likes its optional extras and just to squeeze that optional extra pound and pence Mini offer a bespoke JWC personalisation service.
The personalisation option list is vast and includes Head-Up display, Chilli Red Roof and door mirrors, bonnet stripes and exterior and interior John Cooper Works Pro design accessories.
