OK so here’s another concept, this time its Subaru’s turn to show off what its designers can extract from their creative mindset. And it looks like the Viziv GT Vision Concept.
Subaru created this concept as part of the 15th anniversary of the Gran Turismo video game racing series which was exclusively released on the Sony PlayStation.
The Gran Turismo racing game is now in its 6th incarnation, the Vision Gran Turismo is a clever marketing ploy that enables top automotive brands to create far out concepts and also attain exposure for their brand.
Why Gran Turismo? the so called “real racing simulator” sells by the millions and that means millions of potential customers, in reality its going to be a small percentage of conversions… We won’t talk that way again.
Anyway, games like this produce the next generation of games developers and inspires the next generation of automotive designers and engineers.
So the marketing is important from a business function but the real and unintended value is that one person’s imagination being fired into action.
There is also another net benefit, people just like getting lost from reality and jumping into the world of a digital fantasy. This is no fantasy to the minds of the Subaru Viziv GT creators.
The Subaru Viziv GT is powered by a 2.0-litre boxer turbocharged engine and is combined with one high-power motor in the front and two in the rear, achieving a total system power output of 591 BHP and 800 Nm of torque. The body is created from carbon-fibre and weighs 1,380kg.
You will have to digitally guess what the performance figures will be, the Subaru Viziv GT will become available as a digital download in the next Gran Turismo 6 update and will be purchasable within the Vision GT area of the game or obtained free by completing a lap of a new Subaru Seasonal Event in game.
