Rumors also suggest the addition of an inline straight-six engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, for the American market. Europeans will most probably have to make do with the 2.0-litre petrol engine. Although Mazda has also confirmed it is also developing an inline-six diesel engine. Why?

So why is Mazda transitioning to a rear-wheel-drive setup for the next-generation Mazda 6? To appeal to the keen driver among us all. And also it gives Mazda a new angle from which to approach their marketing campaigns. But as much as we here at DCB HQ like the Vision Coupe Concept we see little value in it all.

Why? because SUVs are the king at the moment and salon cars, sedans, is a shrinking market in an ever-changing consumer demand driven world.
