How The Daily Car Blog Destroyed The Nissan Mercedes X Class
Auto News

Great news! production of the Nissan Mercedes X Class is ending in May! This day, or when the day finally arrives, will be etched into automotive history as to how a minnow destroyed a giant. Mercedes claims that the ending of the X Class production is due to cost-cutting measures. This official statement registers off the scale on the corporate bullshitometer. Here’s the real reason why the Nissan Mercedes X Class is being shoe-horned into the Mercedes history of embarrassments. It didn’t sell in large enough quantities.

During the first half of 2019 66,000 Nissan Navaras were sold. During the whole of 2019 Mercedes sold 15,300 X Class pickups. As a Comparison Chevrolet sold 576,000 Silverados in the same period. Consumers the world over were informed by the might and influence of this blog that the X Class was nothing more than a Nissan with a Mercedes badge. As such sales failed to gain traction. We are all-powerful, we ARE OMNIPOTENT!

OK, so we’re getting a bit carried away here. The likely hood that this blog had any bearing on the low sales of the X Class is about as realistic as the Mercedes marketing people believing that the X Class would actually sell in large enough volumes. The Nissan Mercedes X Class was nothing more than a paper bag over your head.

You had to be living in a parallel delusional world to buy such a vehicle. If Mercedes had built a pick up from scratch we would not have had a problem with the X Class. The X Class was a gutless, spineless attempt to elbow into the growing demand for pickups, primarily in the USA.

The simple fact is, Mercedes couldn’t sell the X Class because their buyers are not the typical beer-swilling, blue-collar hill-billies pickup truckers. And they rejected this pathetic and rather deceptive pickup. The X Class was an attempt to sell what is nothing more tha a luxury tin can to more civilized people. And even they rejected this pathetic and rather deceptive pickup.
