This is The End… For The Bentley Mulsanne
Auto News

Time is the enemy for all of us even inanimate non-sentient objects such as the Bentley Mulsanne. The Mulsanne moniker has graced the Bentley line up since the 1980s. With changing consumer tastes and tougher emissions regulations the age of the Mulsanne has drawn to an end. What a magnificent and elegant car it was,  not just to sit in but also to drive. It was big and unwieldy and somewhat cumbersome if pushed hard but it didn’t matter because it was all about the ride quality and cosseting luxury. You just can’t get that in a Dacia.

The Mulsanne’s 6.75-litre twin-turbo is old school British designed, modified and updated over the years it has become the “steam engine” of today as the automotive world heads into new and uncharted territories of tomorrow. The current generation Mulsanne was introduced in 2010 so it was bound to be “let go” at some point. It’s simply a case of product life-cycle management. The all-new Flying Spur will be the replacement flagship saloon model and it derives much its exterior styling from the Mulsanne.

That means, or rather there appears to be no successor for the Mulsanne… at all. Perhaps Bentley is working on something but for now, this is the end, beautiful friend, this is the end, my only friend, the end of our elaborate plans, the end of everything that stands, the end. However, Bentley is giving the Mulsanne story one final Mulliner based edition.

It’s actually called the Mulsanne 6.75 Edition by Mulliner, not very imaginative oh… and it’s restricted to just 30 cars. Bentley will ensure these final 30 special editions will encompass a no-holds-barred approach that will appeal to the haves and even the have nots. That means only the 1 percent will be able to afford the Mulsanne 6.75 Special Edition.

And all this superior grand bespoke luxury will cost a lot of money, the bog-standard Mulsanne starts from £235,000 GBP.
