Subaru has updated the Forester SUV which is now available in the UK with the latest mild-hybrid tech. The Forester e-Boxer mild-hybrid will be available in two variants, XE and XE Premium. Prices start at £33,995 for the XE and £36,995 for the XE Premium. Key highlights for the entry-level XE are LED headlights, fog lights, side view monitoring, keyless entry, and even a driver monitoring system.

The pricer XE Premium, as the name suggests, comes equipped with simply more stuff. Leather interior, power tailgate, rear privacy glass, 18-inch wheels. And even a heated steering wheel, an option often associated with high-end premium cars.

Permanent AWD is standard for both variants. The X-Mode functionality takes control of the engine, transmission, Symmetrical AWD, brakes during off-road situations.

When X-Mode is activated, Hill Descent Control will maintain a constant speed when traveling downhill, allowing the driver to control the steering and Hill Descent Control to manage the brakes.

The naturally aspirated 2.0-litre e-boxer engine develops 148bhp and 196Nm of torque (143 lb-ft). Permanent AWD is standard. The mild-hybrid system allows the E-Boxer powered Forester to coast at 25mph purely on electric power.

X-MODE now has two modes: SNOW/DIRT for use on slippery road surfaces such as snow or gravel and DEEP SNOW/MUD for surfaces where the tyres can become buried, such as deep snow and dry dirt.

The updated Forester e-Boxer is available in eight colours and is in dealerships now.
