The Audi A1 Citycarver? Initially, we thought this to be a mistype, a grammatical error of sorts (both of which we here at DCB HQ regularly excel at). However, the Audi A1 Citycarver is a real model specification. A real name. Someone at the Audi marketing and branding department actually spent time realising this “Citycarver” brand. And now you can buy into this branding exercise with the very real Audi A1 Citycarver. Audi positions the A1 hatch as a citycar. But if you have ever driven in London, or indeed any busy city then any car is by definition a “citycar”. Parking is always a nightmare in London, no matter how small or large your “citycar” is.

So… what is the Audi Citycarver all about? It’s basically an S Line with different exterior design details and a bunch of optional extras. That you have to pay for. A1 buyers can make their car look even more “urban-ready”. Realistically how many people wake up in the morning and declare “I want my A1 to be more urban ready”. You wouldn’t get Snoop dog saying that. However, the Citycarver specification gives a “tougher stance” says Audi. It’s based on the A1 Sportback, the more muscular look is enhanced with flared wheel arches and redesigned sills in a contrasting colour.

The Audi A1 Citycarver spec also gets underbody protection in a stainless steel finish. Raised suspension gives around four centimetres of additional ground clearance for easier entry and better visibility. Its large, octagonal Singleframe is also reminiscent of the Audi Q models, and surrounds a strongly sculpted honeycomb insert painted in matt black.

Two characteristic slots above the grille differentiate it from the A1 Sportback. At the rear, a new look bumper echoes the design language of the front end. In the interior features an 8.8-inch MMI touch screen. The 10.25-inch fully digital cockpit display is offered as standard.

The optional-optional extra Technology Pack features the Audi virtual cockpit. This increases the range of views and functions, MMI navigation plus bringing a larger 10.1-inch high-resolution screen. Audi connect allows for online services and the Audi Phone Box facilitating wireless smartphone charging.

Audi would like you to spend more money, the Comfort and Sound Pack is also available. This adds Parking System Plus with acoustic and visual assistance. it also features front protection and rear sensors. Front seat heating and the Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system with 560 watts of music power to ensure you can warm your arse and blast music out loudly at the same time.
