This is the updated 2019 Vauxhall Astra, nothing much has changed overall, except for the price. The entry-level Astra SE hatch is available to order from £18,885 while the sports tourer (estate) begins at £20,355 on-the-road. Vauxhall has re-designed the front grille and front bumper design and added LED headlamps on higher trim levels. Vauxhall reckons a drag coefficient of 0.26 makes the Astra hatchback the most aerodynamic car in its class. Innovative engineering, airflow has been improved and turbulence reduced.

New powertrains, now include a three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol and diesel engines with start/stop systems. These engines offer CO2 reductions of up to 19 percent versus the outgoing model. All of the new engines are compliant with Euro 6d (6.3) and RDE 2.

Six-speed manual gearboxes, as well as the new stepless automatic transmission, are available with the 1.4-litre petrol engine. The new nine-speed automatic transmission is available with the 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The petrol engines are available in 1.2- and 1.4-litre versions, with power outputs from 110PS to 145PS. The 1.5-litre diesel engines offer 105PS and 122PS power outputs.

Equipment for the 2019 Vauxhall Astra is also enhanced and now includes a faster and more intuitive Multimedia Radio, Multimedia Navi and Multimedia Navi Pro systems. The systems offer improved connectivity and are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro comes as standard on Elite Nav and Ultimate Nav trims, with an eight-inch colour touchscreen and voice control. The navigation display appears with redesigned symbols while the instrument cluster features a new digital speedometer.

The range-topping Ultimate Nav trim is equipped with a Bose premium sound system, wireless charging. Also included is IntelliLux LED Matrix headlamp system. These Matrix headlights provide “outstanding” performance at night, enhancing safety for the driver, passengers and other road users.
