Initially, we were super stoked about this video. YouTuber Samcrac buys a written off 2010 salvaged Audi R8 for what we thought would be a bargain price. Maybe £35k? No. Samcrac paid around $63k for the used Audi R8 that was an insurance write off.
Then that got us wondering, how much does an undamaged Audi R8, with around 38k mileage of the same year cost in the USA compared to a salvaged Audi R8? A quick web search revealed between $60k-65k USD. What? Smacrac didn’t reveal how much he paid, he merely says he paid $7k less than the winning bid price. The salvaged Audi R8 apparently had frame damage, but a quick inspection revealed it was a crack to the floor cover that costs around 200-bucks to replace. It will cost a couple of grand more yet to make the R8 shine. Why did he not buy it used? that is the question. Correction: We originally stated that Samcrac purchased the salvaged Audi R8 for 63k outright. We now believe he paid $73k outright.
