Dear Sebastian Vettel, Why You Should Never Reveal Your Weakness
Formula One

Dear Sebastian Vettel, it is a mistake to reveal your personal weakness during the heat of an F1 campaign. When you admitted to being your own “biggest enemy” you gave Lewis Hamilton the psychological edge. Admitting to such a thing makes for good editorial copy and many F1 outlets picked up the quote and ran with it. For an ultra competitor like Lewis Hamilton, such an admission is a music to his ears.

Sebastian Vettel, Let me give you an example why. Going to job interviews fresh out of University, the most common question I got was, “what are your strengths and weakness?” I answered truthfully… Big mistake. It took me a couple of interviews to realise that you just lie. Common questions have common answers. It turns out the truth is a sign of weakness, lying is a sign of trustworthiness. Lying while convincing people you are telling the truth is difficult and few people can pull it off, such as politicians and Lindsey Dipple, Press fleet Manager of Jaguar Landrover UK PR. Sure it’s being very open and some would say brave to admit to faults. But revealing your innermost thoughts and concerns? hey, you don’t even put that in a biography. Like all biographies you just make things up. They say talking is silver but silence is golden. Lewis Hamilton will leverage any weakness to boost his chances to win. By saying you are your own enemy is unnecessary introspection. You can be sure Hamilton was taking notes and smiling while you were reclined on the psychiatrist’s couch revealing all to the world. Sebastian Vettel, you should have made a general statement about making mistakes and move on, the past is what it is. Michael Schumacher would never have made such an admission. You should have chosen the strength and weakness answer. The enemy within is now revealed, and it’s party time for Hamilton. There is an old Persian saying, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The enemy within you Sebastian Vettel is Lewis Hamilton’s best friend.  Sebastian Vettel, introspection,
