Audi Avoids Potential Class Action Lawsuit By Going Fully Manual Transmissions For US Consumers
Auto News

Always aim for your target market, never annoy the Americans and always, always make sure your U.S. customer base is satisfied otherwise you are creating a breeding ground for multiple litigation. No automatic transmission in your automobile lineup? then you are sales history in the U.S. of A. OK, so the banner headlines are pure fake news which means this story will be banned on Facebook, but seeing as we have very few Facebook followers it doesn’t really matter.

The news from America is that Audi has dropped manual transmissions from its entire lineup, the A4 and A5 were the resistance to the inevitable change. That change is being driven by customer demand and there is simply no appetite for manual transmissions anymore. Research suggests that Americans prefer automatic transmissions because they can eat Krispy Kremes and raise the middle finger to immigrants. Of course, that is fake news but the slow demise of the automatic transmission is upon us mirrors the slow demise of Americanism. Real research suggests that sales of the A4 manual in the U.S. are so small that it’s simply uneconomic to continue offering the model. Only 5 percent of A4 buyers opt for the manual. Audi is not the only auto manufacture swinging the axe on manual transmissions Mercedes no longer offers any manual versions, because Mercedes make terrible manual transmissions. However, BMW continues to offer manual transmissions on the 3, 4 and 6 Series and the F-Type Jaguar is available as a manual. It makes sense to switch to automatic transmissions only, the latest generation are so good that it makes a manual transmission look like something from a 1950’s B-Movie. And we’ll agree with our U.S. cousins on one point, automatic transmissions are so much more convenient.  Audi will no longer offer stick shifts for lazy Americans, dailycarblog.com
