Doug DeMuro Reviews The Very British Rolls Royce Phantom
Video
Our personal war with Very British Rolls Royce UK is coming to an end, as we negotiate a truce, one can not help but wonder what this war achieved. There were many casualties, this is the nature of warfare, it is an ugly breakdown of humanity where no one wins. Well actually we lost more than we can ever retrieve but we are fine with that. We knew what we were doing and what we would lose in the process. However, we had to stand up for ourselves, and the chief architect, the ‘Archduke Franz Ferdinand’ is no longer at the heart of the Very British Rolls Royce troubles, no longer able to direct us into a minefield while telling us its a meadow full of flowers and Honeybees collecting nectar. There is no written rule that you have to go full on press department begging if you are an automotive journalist. Doug De Muro resists the full-on press department begging route because presumably, he got as fed up with the process and the some of the people as we did. And that’s a good thing because the likes of Autocar and Auto Express feed off these automotive press departments to gorge on as many new cars as possible. It’s their business model, but whether you the reader get a fully independent review is always open to question. But at least these motoring publications allow you to get a look at the latest new cars on the market. Which is a good thing right? But DeMuro doesn’t think it’s a good thing, once calling the Jaguar press department “idiots” and from our experience of the UK press department, we are in full agreement. Back to the Very British Rolls Royce, it’s powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 which is good for 563bhp and 900Nm of torque. The top speed is limited to 155mph and the Phantom, weighing over 2-tonnes, can race from 0-62mph in just 5.3seconds, not very gentlemanly but still respectable. So what does Doug think about the Very British Rolls Royce, $500k, Phantom?  The Very British Rolls Royce review by Doug DeMuro
