Vauxhall Ressurect GSi Performance Brand With Insignia & Corsa
Auto News
Nearly 25 years after the GSi moniker was retired, Vauxhall has announced the performance sub-brand is set to return. The Insignia and Corsa will be the first such recipients. Millennials will not know what a GSi is, but it reads likes this, power and performance. While exact details have yet to be confirmed we do know that the Insignia GSi IS 160kg lighter and will deliver its performance through all-wheel drive, a new chassis, and Brembo 4-piston brakes. Vauxhall-Insignia-GSi-Returns-Rear-View-Dailycarblog The power will be supplied by either a new 2.0-litre, 168bhp, 480Nm BiTurbo diesel or an upgraded 2.0-litre, 258bhp turbo petrol unit. Expect torque vectoring to compliment the all-wheel-drive system and also expect to see a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. Vauxhall’s FlexRide adaptive damping will also make an appearance, the suspension has been lowered by 10mm to really accentuate those 20-inch alloys. Vauxhall-Corsa-GSi-Returns-Dailycarblog Vauxhall says the Insignia GSi can lap the Nürburgring up to 12 seconds faster than its more powerful VXR predecessor. The Corsa GSi will be basically a dethroned Corsa VXR, and should either match or get close the to Corsa’s 202bhp 1.6-litre turbo engine. It may well be the case that the GSi brand replaces the VXR brand as new owners, Peugeot, eradicate all traces of previous owners, General Motors.  Vauxhall-Insignia-GSi-Returns-Dailycarblog
