Êtes-vous le Tiguan? Êtes-vous le Touareg? Aidez-moi!
Auto News
OK, so you have already seen the new Touregand in our (it doesn’t matter) opinion it looks awfully familiar as though we have seen it somewhere before. Indeed it looks like a giant Tiguan, which is either a good or a bad thing to some people. So, it’s clear VW are sharing design cues for its SUV range starting from the Tiguan, Tiguan All Space and now the Touareg. Marketing product planning people call this strategy big, bigger, bigger-er. Unsurprisingly VW’s all-new flagship SUV is slightly bigger than the model it will replace, by few centimeters. It is actually built on the same platform used by the Porsche Cayenne and even makes use of the same windscreen as found on its more high-end counterpart. VW-Touareg-2019-Rear-View-Dailycarblog VW has designed the Touareg to appeal to its key consumer base, China. So, it’s widely known the Chinese like interiors with plenty of leg room. The new VW is slightly long, so the Touareg ticks the box right there. The Chinese market also likes large touchscreen devices, be it smartphones or otherwise and the new Innovision Cockpit frames a centrally mounted 15-inch touchscreen display. The instrument binnacle is replaced with a 12-inch widescreen LED display. VW-Touareg-2019-Interior-Dailycarblog The Touareg will be made available with just one 3.0-Litre, 335bhp V6 petrol engine. VW will be offering diesel power in the form of a range-topping 4.0-litre, 417bhp V8 and a 3.0-litre, 228bhp V6. A plug-in hybrid will follow in Q4 2019. VW says the Touareg will have improved ride and handling dynamics, all-wheel-drive with a center locking diff, five driving modes, and rear wheel steering, all standard features. Air suspension will be an optional extra. VW-Touareg-2019-Shwing-Dailycarblog Expect to see the latest passive and active safety tech and also expect to see more optional extras than you would find in a finance agreement with an electrical retailer. The all-new Touareg will go on sale in Europe first starting around June/July 2018, prices have yet to be confirmed, do expect a price increase. VW currently has no plans to sell the Touareg in the USA.  VW-Touareg-2019-Dailycarblog
