Lighter, more powerful, 0-62mph in 2.85 seconds, a top speed of 211mph sourced from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo that delivers 711bhp and 770 Nm of torque, this is the most extreme and/or powerful Ferrari 488 ever created. This will be the final iteration of the 488 before it’s lineage is replaced, a lineage that harks back to the 2009 458 Italia.
This amphitheater of speed and flair is derived from Ferrari’s endurance racing experience, therefore it is a track car honed for the road… and eventually KSI.
Ferrari has managed to shave off 90kg of weight by using a combination of carbon fiber, a lightweight crankshaft, flywheel, and titanium rods.
The 488 Pista gets improved aerodynamics which sees a 20-percent gain in downforce, a re-designed front and rear diffuser and F1 derived S-ducts.
Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer may sound like an after-market subwoofer but it is actually a software-based measure that can adjust brake pressure to the calipers, the theory being that it improves handling.
The 488 Pista receives other software updates to the stability control and magnetorheological suspension (improved handling and ride)
However, we like the sound of the 20-inch rims which are constructed entirely from carbon-fiber. The Pista will make its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motorshow. Cost? £215,000.
