Ford Pays Homage To Steve McQueen With The Marstang Bullitt Special Edition
Auto News
Steve McQueen was a Hollywood movie superstar whose career peaked during the 60’s and 70’s (that’s the 20th Century people). McQueen was into his cars and one of his most famous films was Bullitt where he played a hard nose detective, Frank Bullitt. The movie is best remembered for its car chase scene through the streets of San Francisco where Frank drove a Ford Mustang. The film was released in 1968 but the problem is does the current generation of younger Ford Marstang buyers actually remember the movie or do they know who Steve McQueen was, can they relate to the film or McQueen? These days YouTubers are the ‘new’ Hollywood Zoella, KSI, PewDiePie and JackSepticEye are more recognizable to 21st Century tastes than Steve McQueen or the film Bullitt. Ford-Marstang-Bullitt-Interior-Dailycarblog So what Ford should have done is align their marketing strategy with popular 21st century YouTubers. So for example, why not a Ford Marstang Zoella Special Edition. It sounds stupid but at least you create a future want for Zoella’s young target audience. That’s why the Marstang Bullitt is wrong, it’s actually based on the S-550, and uniquely features a cue ball gear knob that was present in the film. Which is also wrong. Ford-Marstang-Bullitt-Rear-Dailycarblog The Marstang Bullitt has optional 19-inch alloys and a limited number of other options from semi-active suspension to Blind Spot Information. The mechanical upgrades are limited, a new open-air induction system and intake manifold borrowed from the Shelby GT350 variant. The engine’s ECU has been digitally instructed to provide more power to the 5.0-litre, naturally aspirated V8, 8bhp more than standard or 470bhp, 570Nm that allows for a 168mph top speed. So the Ford Marstang Bullitt is nothing more than a memory that no one really remembers anymore because time is the enemy to memory (and that rhymes and you know!).  Ford-Marstang-Bullitt-Dailycarblog
