There have been hundreds of muscle cars to hit the market. Companies like Corvette and Chevrolet have become very well-known for their performance motors. And, of course, Ford has been up there with them. And, it’s one of Ford’s offerings that makes this post possible. The Mustang Shelby GT350 is steeped in a rich history of track prestige and raw power. In the 60s, this car was revolutionary. And, it’s the 1965 version of the GT350 that we’re interested in. So, buckle up, you’re about to go on a wild ride. But, read at your own risk; you might just succumb to temptation upon reading more about this beautiful piece of engineering.
The 1965 GT350 was the lightest version of this model ever to hit the market. With two seats and two-doors, this car is much smaller than many of it’s brothers and sisters. It featured Mustang’s famed circular headlights, sitting either side of a magnificently wide grill. The standard models all have 5-spoked wheels, with a large centre. And, of course, they look like something that came from God’s own garage. With their sweeping lines and smooth curves; GT350s are the embodiment of American Muscle for a lot of enthusiasts. Even if you don’t know it; you’ve almost certainly seen one of these machines in the past. But, this isn’t even the really exciting part.
In recent years, cars have gotten a lot more powerful. This is thanks to better manufacturing techniques and access to materials. This means that older cars have to be looked at differently when it comes to their power. And, you have to consider how light the GT350 was, back in the day. The car has a 306 hp engine under the bonnet, with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Aside from that, you don’t get much else with the ‘65 model. Wait a year, and you’ll get some more features tailored to a road driver. But, otherwise, you will be dealing with a car designed for the tracks. But, when you buy a car like this; isn’t that exactly what you want?
Getting one of these truly unique cars will take some effort. Unfortunately, they are fairly rare around a lot of the world. And, so, you might have to look very far out your way to get one. But, this will be worth it. You don’t have to travel to do this, either. Most garages selling cars like this will be happy to help you ship the car to your country.
But, there are loads of third-party companies offering services like the ability to ship a car without having to do any work yourself. This makes it much easier to get your new GT350. You’ll be most likely to find a car like this in the US. But, someone may have imported one closer by.
Hopefully, this will give you a new appreciation for this gorgeous car. A lot of people who love cars don’t look at motors like this. But, owning a car like this gives you a piece of history. It gives you the chance to keep this car’s heritage alive.
