Photographer Blows Up Cars In The Name of Art
Auto News
Don’t worry this is not a real vintage Maserati its a scale model and yes these scale models do include pistons. The photographer who captured these images is Fabian Oefner a Swiss national who studied art and design at University. You see Fabian is a digital artist.  Fabian has past credits working for Leica as the company’s Director of Visual Style, yes such ceremonial jobs do exist. In 2013 he left it all behind to set up his own studio. Studio Ofner won’t be short of work and this “Disintegrating Series” is the perfect business card. Studio-Ofner-Disintergration-Series-Rothmans-Gulf-Porsche The “Disintegrating Series” is designed to take a look at a suite of performance cars that appear to have been blown apart. The process of capturing such a photograph isn’t completed by blowing up a scale model and using a high speed camera to capture the resulting effect. Fabian’s technique is far more laborious. Each scale model is effectively disassembled and each component is individually photographed. Studio-Ofner-Disintergration-Series-Bugatti Commponents that appear to be floating are actually suspended by ‘invisible wires’. After each component is photographed in its state of “disintegration” Fabian digitally composites each part. Using digital technology Fabian is able to composite hundreds of individual images into one giving the resulting effect. If it were us we would have just blown the dam thing up and used a high speed camera. But it’s amazing nonetheless.  Studio-Ofner-Disintergration-Series-Maserati
