Former F1 Champ Calls Current Drivers Chumps
Formula One
Former 1997 F1 World Champion, Jacques Villeneuve, has waded into the on going debate about the current state of Formula One. Villeneuve has always a been a no nonsense, straight to the point, doesn’t take any BS, SOB. And as ever he is in scathing form about today’s drivers. Villeneuve believes that the drivers should stay away from politics, in particular he points out that the Grand Prix Drivers Association was ill advised to write an open letter to the sports hierarchy. “They should just shut up. It’s not their problem how good or bad the show is on TV. They should just get on with their job.” said Villeneuve in a recent interview. “So why would you want to give them power? “Take a group of 20 drivers. Take maybe two of them and the rest should just shut up.” Villeneuve continued. The veteran racing champ simply believes that the drivers should just focus on doing what they do best and leave the decision making to the sports governing body. However Villeneuve also believes that that changing the qualifying rules to improve the spectacle is the wrong way to go. “They should stop changing the rules full stop,” he said. In all the noble sports like tennis and football, the rules haven’t changed in 100 years, even when it is boring, and people respect it.” added Villeneuve. “We just need something old school. Just something normal. one lap on its own [in qualifying] was great.” “Some days you’ll have great qualifying sessions and somedays boring qualifying but that’s the way it goes.”  Jacques-Villeneuve-Calls-F1-Drivers-Chumps
